extra-noir As others have said, this recalls the first hour of Optimo's Sunday nights in Glasgow, which I tried to never miss. It was always possible to enjoy Optimo if you turned up late... but being there for the first hour guaranteed a better night.

Teamy The most unsung part of the Optimo weekly club night was the first hour, where the DJs played the weird and wonderful whilst the punters came in, and caught up with each other. It was probably this time when the most track IDs were requested too.

I keep looking at my stereo to see the track ID on pretty much every track so this compilation is a pretty good approximation of what the first hour might sound like if the club were magically resurrected. ps: hi Keith! Favorite track: I Killed My Boy.

The idea has always been that Optimo Music is as much about music that is far away from the dancefloor as it is about weirdo club music and club bangers. I hope you discover some new gems here that maybe make you explore some other releases by these artists.

100% of Optimo Music’s share of revenue from this release (and also all releases this week) will be donated to two organisations in Glasgow that I have existing relationships with that do really important work. They are Coalition for Racial Equality and Rights, and Positive Housing In Action. Funds from this compilation will continue to be donated for as long as they come in.
